The discussion around ChatGPT, has now evolved into AI Agents.

Bill Gates recently envisioned (CNBC interview: link) a future where we would have an AI Agent that is able to process and respond to Natural Language and accomplish a number of different Tasks. Gates used planning a trip as an example. Ordinarily, this would involve booking your hotel, flights, restaurants, etc. on your own. But an AI Agent would be able to use its knowledge of your preferences to book and purchase those things on your behalf.

OpenAI is also reportedly (link) working on AI agents that can execute tasks for the user autonomously. One type of agent software OpenAI is developing would effectively take over a user’s device to automate complex tasks within an environment such as work.

However, designing and deploying AI Agents remains challenging in practice.

In this article, I tried to put together some initial thoughts around the essential components / frameworks needed to materialize such an AI Agent Platform:
